A Field Guide to Cindy Rose-Part Uno

Some examples of “civility” from a woman aspiring to be elected to the Frederick County Board of Education who calls progressives “vile creatures.” We’re going to go on here a bit about her temperament, using a few visual aids of her own creation (which she refers to as bullying), but perhaps the most important information is found in the link at the end of this post. More information on school shooting victim blaming here.

crazy shooter dude gets blamed on the liberals
The liberals made this asshole put on a MAGA hat and shoot up the school, yes? Is that what we are to understand. Color us skeptical, maybe.

Dangerous to civil society! Speaking of mean and nasty…

Sometimes we do agree with Cindy Rose, like when school testing seems stupid. And also now. We can just hold a mirror up! Who knew she was a Snoop fan?

More details on Fuck Your Feelings style civility here.

Fuck Your Feelings Bonus Material…from the 2016 Campaign of Cindy “Jason Voorhees” Rose.

It does seem exciting to have a BOE candidate who is guaranteeing to always be uncivil, doesn’t it?

Here’s a group including Cindy Rose working out the math on why teachers (also part of the county-pertinent discussion were county sheriffs’ deputies and city police) would want to learn to spot the signs that their students may be human trafficking victims–some kind of pyramid scheme to enrich themselves, obvi. If you would like to learn more about this delusional fiction, have a link.

human trafficking pyramid scheme

Here is Cindy sharing a “right wing intellectual” who espouses something called mandatory monogamy, which sounds medieval at best.

Would she bring his ideas into sex education in Frederick County? “You picked. No backsies. Too bad he’s abusive!” Etc. Gah. What is the appeal here?!

*(As an aside, we will mention that the post there discusses our preferences in the primary election. Times change–we support Trone for Congress. For reasons of requiring numbers in the House to hold recklessness accountable, exclusively. Civic duty. Uphold whatever vestige we can retain of norms of government at this point, etc.)

Nolite te bastardes carborundorum, y’all.

Speaking of dystopian fiction:

Cindy Rose screenshot
Holy moly. Do you have so little to do that you have to invent problems to complain about? That’s a rhetorical question. The answer, we know, is yes.

Many of us read Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type, and thought it was a funny book to entertain little kids. The farmer was mean and didn’t let the cold cows have blankets, so they quit making milk and started typing complaints. Does Cindy know that cows cannot type? This is not a nonfiction book! This is not even realistic fiction! It fails to address the most basic concerns, such as if your cows die of hypothermia, will you still get milk? Most of your Yokel Staff got a free copy included with a child’s meal at the Original Fredneck Chick-Fil-A, which is pretty funny. Which is it? “We love Truett Cathy Right Wing Dreamboat the mostest or we hate collective bargaining?” Pick now or forever hold your peace.

And now, for “the link at the end of this post,” The Real Witch Hunt.

Some of the material in there goes right along with her role as firefighter from Fahrenheit 451.

Yokel thoughts on the election.

First of all, WOW…just WOW! The three that we write most about (Kirby, Billy, and Tony) couldn’t muster up enough votes among their own party to make it to the general election. I guess it wasn’t just us! Billy really got his backside handed to him:

Screen Shot 2018-06-26 at 11.02.33 PM
Holy moly macaroni!

And the other two, who at least didn’t get trounced quite as badly:

But, still lost. We’ve been asked what we are going to do without these three to write about. And our answer to that is:

tenor.gif

For we care more about this county being governed by capable people than having material for the blog. Plus, there will always be SOMEONE.

We’ve been looking around the interwebs and have seen that many, many Republicans are super upset about Afzali snagging the nomination. We even saw this proclamation from Cindy:

36342088_10155669360536305_1795874419441139712_n

0852260e6679f71219b11bfe93c3a1f789e30730b7de842f9e666aab4717471c

Most of those upset (including Cindy; so much for mean what you say and say what you mean…oh wait, she’s just mean) are now advocating for Earl Robbins’ Independent campaign, so you can imagine how that’s all going to work out. Please proceed. Cindy and Blaine are amongst those who have already come out to support him. He must be pleased to receive the Silver Linings Playbook Slate endorsement. The infighting/betrayals of this county party are really a sight to behold, folks!

And yes, Cindy made it through to 6th place out of 8th in the BOE race.  Even she knows that it almost insurmountable. And if you know anyone who is confused about how to vote in the general election, you can find ample evidence online to share with them. Be forewarned: she considers it “bullying” when you cite her own words, er…uh, her own madness against her. Take heart that she received about 1/2 the votes she did last time, so we aren’t too worried. NONE of her slate made it, so thankfully we don’t have to draw your attention to any of them any longer.

More good news:

Screen Shot 2018-06-26 at 11.03.55 PM

Galen Clagett came in last, showing that he wasn’t able to fool enough people into thinking he was some kind of Progressive Democrat!

Let’s all enjoy walking on cloud 9 today. We will regroup to prep for November very soon. Whoo hoo!

It seems like a great time to be callous about separating kids from their parents!

It’s hard to believe that people are anything but outraged by children being taken from their parents. We here at the Yokel have been sick over it. We all have little ones and cannot imagine what these people are going through. If you are thinking, “Well, it’s their parents fault,” or “Obama did it too,” go away now! We are done with the likes of you!

Even though Trump has finally signed an Executive Order to overturn his very own policy, which he insisted he wasn’t able to do because it was a Democratic law, the question remains as to when the already separated children will be reunited with their parents. That’s the only thing anyone with a heart should be worried about.

However….we live in a crazy world. And we have some people running for office who have some interesting interpretations of what we should be worried about instead of the obvious.

Something is disgusting all right! If she would have taken half a second to fact check this picture she would have found out it was taken at a protest about children being held in cages, not someone staging a picture of kids being held in cages.

Screen Shot 2018-06-20 at 7.36.15 PM

Because there are plenty of real pictures of that. But, that’s not what this BOE candidate wants us to focus on is it? By posting this she’s insinuating that this whole story isn’t true. Snopes is your friend, Cindy. If you can’t bother to check the validity of a simple picture how can we possibly trust you to make fact-based decisions concerning our children’s education?

On that note, go ahead and jump over to her Local Control Facebook page, because there are some real heroes interacting with her and Seth!

How does Kirby feel about all this hullabaloo? Take a look:

Screen Shot 2018-06-20 at 7.21.25 PM

Hey folks! Why are we spending so much time focusing on the deep psychological scars that these separated kids will endure when we can engage in some deceiving whataboutism?

shining-object
Don’t fall for it Mittens!

There are no sanctuary policies  letting criminals out of jail. That is just a lie. Just like all the lies his Dear Leader tells. We just love how both he and Jenkins love to use MS-13 and illegal immigrants in the same breath in order to associate them together as one. Ain’t that clever? Go ahead and read up on MS-13, yes they are bad, but you may learn a thing or two. Like they are an American born gang, their victims are most likely to be other gang members, and illegal immigrants actually commit less crimes than native born people. We’ll stick to talking about Trump’s immigration policies thank you very much.

It’s the final countdown!!!! All the fun of the 2018 primary election!

2byqmn

In just four short days Frederick County residents can begin voting in this year’s primary election. We know, like us, many of y’all are busy ending the school year, but this stuff is important. Especially since we recently heard someone utter these words: Who is Cindy Rose? Sigh. We sometimes get lost in our own little world where we think everyone pays as much attention to these issues as we do!

In today’s edition of the FNP there is a Frederick County Voter Information Guide. This guide was put together with the esteemed League of Women Voters of Frederick County (LWV). You can view this guide in one of three ways:  a.) get the print edition of the FNP  b.) buy a subscription so you can view the online e-pages or c.) go to the LWV’s page. Let’s take a diversion and remind y’all the importance of having a local paper. No matter how you feel about the FNP (REMINDER: THE EDITORIAL PAGE IS SUPPOSED TO REFLECT SOMEONE’S OPINION!), it’s very important that we keep this paper. Where are we going to get all of our local information from if it disappears? (As much as we love  those of you who shouted out Local Yokel, we are not journalists!) The WaPo and Baltimore Sun do not care about Shrelauter! So, if you don’t have a subscription, please consider getting one.

2byqpv
We sympathize. However, not paying attention is no longer an option!

There is a section on FNP’s website that has a different questionnaire than what is in the paper or you can go to the LWV’s 411 site ( this is also an excellent organization to join!) which does have what is in the paper, however, it’s not as fun as having it all laid out before you in one section.  Here’s a taste to encourage you to get a subscription:

-There’s a whole list of people who couldn’t bother to get their answers in on time:

-Danny Farrar

-Galen Clagett

-Tony Chmelik

-Craig Giangrande

-Michael Bowersox

-James Dvorak

-Barrie S. Ciliberti

-William Folden

-Seth Eisenberg

-Chaz Packan

-Kirby has a very interesting solution to the opioid crisis:

A lot of our issues are that we have such a high tax system in the county that two parents have to work in order to make ends meet. This leave kids vulnerable after school and during summer months to not have the parental guidance during those hours when both parents are working. The Executive creates the budget so if we can make the county more affordable, one parent can stay home.

So taxes and women not staying home are the reason for the crisis!!! We all know that the “parent” he wants to stay home is mom, because of his past behavior on this issue.

-Cindy tries to act reasonable, and even quotes MLK in her answer! She also points out the difference between the progressives and conservatives:

It’s not non-partisan. Since education is overly politicized at this time, it’s important to know the politics of any Board of Education candidate. Progressive Democrats seem overly concerned with social learning and pouring more money into education without knowing if it will help. Conservative Republicans seem concerned over academic content and want an itemization of every penny.

-And for a good chuckle, read this quote concerning his record on education from ole Billy:

I have proven Education is a priority. I put Wi-Fi in every school & started adding computers to the classrooms. I funded the extra bathrooms at Urbana Elementary School. Led the site selection committee for the new Sugarloaf Elementary School & had the site donated & Funded. North Frederick ES was built, Frederick HS built, plus Butterfly Ridge Funded & started. Added extra security to schools

images.jpeg
Can you believe this guy!!??

Seriously folks, you need to talk to your neighbors, friends, co-workers, or some guy walking down the street. While a voter’s guide is a good resource, it doesn’t go into past behavior. And the past behavior of people like Kirby, Billy, and Cindy are very important when considering what they may do to our fine county in the future. You know what they say:

9 more days until voting starts! What’s been going on around here anyway?

49e5a840-7bb8-0134-ce04-0aec1efe63a9.jpg
Sorry, Tiger, hopefully everyone who can vote will!

We’ve been talking about how to go about showing our gentle readers all that’s been going on around here lately. Honestly, it’s next to impossible. Therefore, in preparation for the primary election we are going to show you as much as we can about what we’ve found in recent days. Let’s start with Kirby and this “Guess Who?” meme:

Screen Shot 2018-06-05 at 1.11.16 PM

Ah, first of all the only candidate who has received any benefits is the only one that has been elected to the office. So, how can it possibly be all of them? That makes zero sense. Let’s delve a little deeper into this though. Do we really expect people who work full-time in a political office not to be compensated for their work? Or, perhaps Kirby is one of those elitists we keep hearing about that believes that only those who are independently wealthy should hold political office. Guess who else has worked close to 8 years as a politician? That’s right Kirby. And he wants 4 more!

We can’t point out Kirby without taking a look at the other half of the Shrelauter equation: Billy! There honestly isn’t much to say. He hasn’t put out any signs. He did answer the FNP’s questions in which he claimed to have solved the opioid epidemic. But, besides that we’ll let the likes on his Billy for Senator Facebook page speak for themselves:

Now on to the BOE race. Seth Eisenberg has been a constant source of amusement for us these past few months. From his freaking out over every bad piece of press he gets, his car-side chats, and his claim to be running because of his son even though his son does not attend an FCPS school, there are days that we don’t even know where to begin with this guy. Here’s a good view into his candidacy.  This is his answer to a testing question put forth by the FNP:

34274788_2065313470163729_4645801360271343616_n
What is with him and Kirby and the double negatives? Well, we give this guy a triple negative endorsement! How do you like them apples?

And you know we have to mention Cindy…again. Even though we’ve done it a million times over, we need to make sure that everyone knows what a terrible choice she would be for our BOE.  If this lady had just stuck to over-testing, we may have had some common ground. But alas! We’ll leave you some of our favorite, more recent, posts we’ve seen her make:

Screen Shot 2018-06-05 at 1.18.52 PM
The Wonkette, one of our favorite blogs, did a couple of great pieces about him a few weeks back. If you missed the New York Times article about this fella, take a gander. He believes not only in the patriarchy, but that women should be in enforced monogamy with men! Why, you ask? Well, if not men will become violent, like all those disgusting incels you’ve been hearing about lately. And who is to blame? The man? No, no, no! According to Jordan Peterson women are!

Screen Shot 2018-06-05 at 1.15.38 PM
Sanctity?  When is she going to leave the transgender population alone?

And, let’s not forget the other two that have hitched their wagons to the aforementioned:

33817070_2056540797707663_573697920100990976_o
You are the company you keep fellas! Wait, I thought they weren’t a slate!

We don’t rubber stamp every Democrat that comes down the line, nor do we rally against every Republican (Vote Steve McKay in District 2 if you are voting in the Republican primary!) Click here and here to read what we think about Galen Clagett.

This morning we were alerted to a story about congressional contender David Trone and his efforts to get the African American vote in A Miner Detail. Read it all here, but pay special attention to this excerpt that has to do with trying to recruit two Frederick City Aldermen to his campaign:

On Shackelford, Trone writes, “he is the easy fruit.”

“I don’t want to use him right away. I want to use Roger Wilson because we have to bring him out and get him to support us openly and that will send other messages to the black community because he represents in absentia Jan Gardner in the county government and he has his own strong network of people than Derek who has been to my house and been great doesn’t have [sic].”

Trone continued, “After we run Roger down and get as much help from him as we can get, then we will talk about when to shift over to Derek.”

Trone does not have the backing of your Lady Yokels.

We know there are more candidates that we need to bring attention to, but this is all we have the time and energy for today. If you know of any other stories that need to be shown the light of day, do not hesitate to put them in the comments for all to see!

Who’s in need of some remedial Constitution history today?

Top of the morning to ya, Yokels! We are all so hopeful that we will only have to bring this nonsense to you for one more month, since we are super optimistic that the two we are about to discuss will lose their primaries and slink out of the public eye forever. Until that time we must point out how unqualified they are to hold public office in our fine county.

Let us begin with three-time school board contender Cindy Rose. If you go back a couple of years and look at the PIA dump someone published from the last election, you will see that she often laments that the school system doesn’t celebrate Constitution Day. In this post she equates the unfairness of celebrating Earth Day, but not the Constitution, while adding in an interesting twist:

Screen Shot 2018-05-05 at 8.57.38 AMUMMM, their Creator?!?! Does she think the U.S. Constitution was written by the Almighty himself? Sounds like someone could have used Constitution Day herself!! So, we are supposed to erroneously teach our students that “their Creator” bequeathed the Constitution to the American people, but celebrating Mother Earth is some kind of liberal social/environmental justice that needs to end? Was the Lord/Zeus/Allah partial to bicameral legislatures, checks and balances, the 3/5th’s clause? Who knew?!

491109d9f280f13e29a1f2b1c61140c4
Not one of them, including God!

Is this the kind of thinking we want on our school board?

Screen Shot 2018-05-05 at 8.56.54 AM
We’re all going to die if the school system doesn’t teach the Constitution was written by the Almighty!

Yesterday we shared the story the FNP wrote on Kirby’s gun raffle on our Facebook page. He broke the record for using the term “2nd amendment” in a sentence! Then, his campaign manager took to Facebook to lament that anyone had the nerve to ask him about this gun raffle to begin with!

Screen Shot 2018-05-05 at 8.58.21 AM

How dare Kirby be asked his personal opinion! What’s wrong with all you liberal reporters expecting Kirby to explain something he’s actually doing? Oh, and love the old NRA car analogy. What’s the purpose of a car again? What’s the purpose of a gun? How are they the same?

Don’t forget to vote in the primary June 26th! #localelectionsmatter!

What’s that you say #HATESLATE? Kirby’s raffling off MAGA guns? And Tony didn’t pay his taxes?

smile_hide_overwhelmed.jpg
This is going to be all of us soon!

Oh gentle readers, do we have a bunch to catch y’all up on! We are very sorry to tell you that the #HATESLATE, which continues to insist that they are not a slate, has slated together to form a new Facebook page! Take a look at this diverse artwork they chose for their cover photo:

Screen Shot 2018-04-29 at 10.18.11 AM
And the slogan!!! Lord, you can’t make this stuff up!

Next, let’s look at the first post on this newly formed page:

Screen Shot 2018-04-29 at 10.18.30 AM

Uhhh, the first thing we have to say is that pointing out that you are fear-mongering is not a personal attack. It is a fact that everyone needs to know about. Secondly, what is the message exactly? We hear lots of complaints and Chicken Little proclamations, but not one solid proposal on how to fix all that they say is wrong with the school system. Unless, of course, this meme that Seth posted is actually under consideration:

thumbnail

Thirdly, there have been PLENTY of people in the community, ourselves included, who have specifically pointed out (USING ACTUAL FACTS) how wrong the #HATESLATE is!

If you missed our two most recent posts about their claims, go ahead and read them here and here. Also, new blogger “The Rank Stranger” took the time to go through their claims and made two excellent posts (WITH DATA), here and here.

Current BOE President Brad Young, who according to Seth is not even on the board, has been fighting their misinformation like a champ this week!

Screen Shot 2018-04-29 at 10.44.57 AM.png
It is amazing the low opinion the #HATESLATE has of the kids within our school system.

And, because you are running for the Board of EDUCATION, you should have a basic understanding of how the English language works! That is not an unreasonable expectation!  Therefore, we enlisted a teacher friend to show ya’ll your mistakes:

Grammarly is an excellent resource folks!

Anyone in the mood for a pre-Mother’s Day fundraiser?

Let’s get a close up of that MAGA themed Kel Tec shotgun, shall we?

Screen Shot 2018-04-29 at 10.19.37 AM

Do we have to point out all the negative connotations this decorating of the weapon entails? How are we to make America great again? By shooting everyone up? For freedom? We hope that Kirby realizes that his position as County Executive doesn’t entail writing gun legislation.

And last, but certainly not least, we have yet another county council man delinquent on his county taxes! How is this possible?! Mr. Frederick County First:

1920992_610676269008147_1067900268_o

Owes over $3000!!!!

31104250_10155532607726305_1280808376_o

It’s almost May, so the countdown to June 26 is quickly approaching! Make good decisions for the future of both our school board and our county government. #Localelectionsmatter!

That is not what is happening here.

Local 3 time Board of Education candidate (and 2 on her way to 3 time loser) Cindy Rose has made a declaration about our blog.

20180420_211249
Who would like this?

Let’s look at the definition of hate group.

Screenshot_20180420-212004_Chrome.jpg

We are continually amazed at the lack of comprehension exhibited by Cindy Rose. The bar just keeps getting lower.

he-is-clueless_fb_2432401
Pointing out logical fallacies does not a hate group make.

Just because we would HATE to see you on the school board does not make us a hate group. How about turning the hyperbole down a notch or two or a million?

Let’s paddle all those brain washed kids! Your BoE election week in review!

We can barely keep up with this year’s slate of BoE candidates! We shared quite a few of Cindy Rose’s Facebook posts on our Facebook page last week, so make sure you take a gander at all of that!  Since we have heard so much lately about how Twitter and other social media outlets are the best way for politicians to communicate, we are going to go ahead and present to you some of our latest social media findings.

If you haven’t had the chance to read our post on what a friend of the Yokel termed “The Hate Slate”, please take the time to do so. There we not only point out how very poorly written their “For Immediate Release” post was, but we also took the time to research and refute the claims within.

Please+no+more+bullshit_445cbc_5699531
Did we ever!

The Hate Slate really doesn’t like it when we re-post their posts, read their press releases, or write anything about their awful ideas. According to them, that is bullying.

do-not-think-it-means1.jpeg

LOL! If they want to believe that pointing out why they would be terrible members of our children’s board of education is bullying, we’ll just have chalk that up to one of the million things they are confused about.

Let us first see how some of our candidates felt about the school walk out, shall we?

Screen Shot 2018-03-18 at 12.31.50 PM
Take heed liberals! Cindy will have you beaten into submission!

Before we say anything else, let’s also explore what some members of her “Dream Team” had to say:

Screen Shot 2018-03-18 at 12.39.12 PMScreen Shot 2018-03-18 at 1.34.01 PM

Chaz also went before the BOE this week to explain to us all how very concerned he is that those kids who did not want to participate in the walk out are somehow persecuted in an interesting interpretation of the 1st amendment:

http://fcpsmd.swagit.com/play/03142018-987/#25

Here’s our Yokel analysis of all of the above:

Free speech does not apply to kids if they disagree with our point of view. These teenagers could not have come to a different conclusion than us (i.e.-we don’t want to get shot at school) without somehow being brainwashed by the evil liberal teachers. However, if a teenager does happen to subscribe to our point of view, they are heroes and critical thinkers who are the TRUE future leaders of these here United States. Also, Freedom of Speech ONLY applies to those who share our point of view because those who express a different viewpoint RIGHT IN OUR VERY FACES  are somehow making us feel very bad and now we need our safe space!

Please, continue posting, people! PLEASE!

We also found a few goodies on the candidate page of Seth Eisenberg. Please take a hot second to read this blog post on his BoE page:

Screen Shot 2018-03-18 at 1.56.29 PMScreen Shot 2018-03-18 at 1.56.37 PMScreen Shot 2018-03-18 at 1.56.45 PM

Yeah, how about that Maryland Case Search!? Go take a look folks! Of course people are going to look at what kind of person you are if you want to represent our interests! And that includes whether or not you have had any run-ins with the law! And of course we want those in charge of making educational decisions for our children to have a basic understanding of education (and to know how English works)! To us this requires ,at minimum, a college degree or some other kind of proof that shows you are beyond capable of analyzing research and passing budgets! (Yes, we know, elitist!) And #sorrynotsorry we are not going to be positive with people who have no business in the world running for the board of ed!

You may be asking why we have chosen to spend so much time lately on the board of education race. These types of races don’t usually get a lot of press and in our opinion that is a huge problem! If rational folks don’t pay attention you wind up with board of education members who choose textbooks that treat slavery as just another world migration, or decide that creationism belongs in a science classroom, or try to ban books like Harry Potter. We can’t let these people on our school board. Pay attention and be vigilant!

Here’s one more chuckle for your Sunday afternoon:

Screen Shot 2018-03-18 at 12.36.38 PM
Appealing to the disgraced-several-times-over Milo Yiannopoulos for campaign advice is simultaneously tragic and hilarious. You have to be a special kind of nuts to get Twitter banned, and some of Milo’s big troubles come from appearing to promote pedophilia, so…

If you haven’t heard about Milo Y’s latest adventures, definitely enjoy some whimsical reading about his retracted CPAC invitation, kooky-stupid book deal that vanished into thin air, and termination from his cranky Breitbart covfefe production gig.

Does Cindy Rose even know what she wants anymore?

261tww.jpg
We think not Tom!

Friday is supposed to be that day when you can breathe a sigh of relief that the work week is almost done. But then we open the Frederick News Post to find an LTE from Cindy that is such a hot mess. And now we are going to have to spend our precious time getting the word out, again, about what a terrible BOE candidate she is!  Thanks a lot Cindy!

Let’s dive right in shall we? She’s upset over the planned walk-outs organized by the Parkland students, who, for some reason, want to prevent any further gun violence in American schools. Since she can’t get an answer from FCPS (more on that in a minute), she mines the internet to misconstrue one:

“A Feb. 28 post on the school board president’s Facebook page by a retired FCPS teacher and current elected member of the Frederick County Democratic Central Committee (FCDCC) gives insight into FCPS’ stance.

The FCDCC member quotes a Slate.com article, and writes “I cannot love this article enough.” The article credits the organization of the Parkland walkout to the students. Both fail to mention that Oprah, George Clooney, and many others each donated $500,000 to help organizers who also organized the “pink hat” protests: Everytown for Gun Safety, Move On and Planned Parenthood, to name a few. It’s a gun protest victimizing victims of a tragedy. But I digress.”

First of all, is looking through the comments section of Brad Young’s Facebook page the best place to find FCPS policy? It is a good place, however, for her to fuel her vendettas against those she deems an enemy. We know this member of the FCDCC, and she is more a friend to education than Cindy will ever be, however, she does not set policy for FCPS!

Yesterday, your Lady Yokels came across this in our inbox:

There is one advocacy strategy we have asked students not to use–walking out of school. FCPS does not condone student walkouts due to safety concerns that could result from such action. The most significant factor in our request that students not walk out is safety not only of the students protesting but of students in the building as well. Participating in a walkout makes students vulnerable to the very safety concerns that they are advocating we need to address. The students outside are vulnerable to anyone in the community who may seek to harm or cause conflict with the students. Students leaving the building through numerous doors endangers the students in the building as opening the doors allows access for outsiders to enter without checking in at the front office.

Guess that Oprah and Clooney money didn’t find its way to the right people!  Maybe she should contact Scott Baio to see if he’s got any cash to pass out!

Let’s delve into some of the hypocrisy present in her writing. Cindy has long been an advocate of those “good old days” of education. You know when schools just stuck to the learning, not the brainwashing.  Shall we take a looky at that Slate.com article she referred to above? Yes, we shall:

Despite the gradual erosion of the arts and physical education in America’s public schools, the students of Stoneman Douglas have been the beneficiaries of the kind of 1950s-style public education that has all but vanished in America and that is being dismantled with great deliberation as funding for things like the arts, civics, and enrichment are zeroed out. In no small part because the school is more affluent than its counterparts across the country (fewer than 23 percent of its students received free or reduced-price lunches in 2015–16, compared to about 64 percent across Broward County Public Schools) these kids have managed to score the kind of extracurricular education we’ve been eviscerating for decades in the United States. These kids aren’t prodigiously gifted. They’ve just had the gift of the kind of education we no longer value.

Part of the reason the Stoneman Douglas students have become stars in recent weeks is in no small part due to the fact that they are in a school system that boasts, for example, of a “system-wide debate program that teaches extemporaneous speaking from an early age.” Every middle and high school in the district has a forensics and public-speaking program. Coincidentally, some of the students at Stoneman Douglas had been preparing for debates on the issue of gun control this year, which explains in part why they could speak to the issues from day one.

There’s also this super interesting article about the AP Government teacher at Stoneman Douglas who was quoted as saying:

These students are clear-eyed, media-ready, and sophisticated, often rejecting the premise of interview questions or entirely reframing them. Foster says it’s not surprising to him which kids are getting repeated interview requests and continue to speak publicly. He’s seen these same students shine in his classroom debating controversial issues like gun control, abortion, and Colin Kaepernick. Foster says he stirs the discussion to both sides. When students don’t bring up counter-arguments, he brings them up himself.

Let’s contrast all of that with this discussion that we were unfortunately a witness to on Facebook (since that is apparently the mode in which we find out how people and organizations feel about policy):28810373_10155721321867599_1190720629_o28942920_10155721322212599_2186776_o28768153_10155721322357599_1301335770_o28822702_10155721322487599_1498211201_o28822575_10155721504507599_1060832472_o

NO SIDES? WOW! Let’s go to another section of her LTE to find out more about that no sides she’s in support of:

You doubt this? When did you last see teachers unions or a student group “walk out” in defense of any Republican cause? Do Republican causes lack substance? More likely, conservative causes don’t fit the liberal political agendas in the classroom.

That’s her, “No-Sides” Cindy Rose! It is our conclusion, from not only today’s tome, but ALL of her writings, that she sincerely believes that anyone who does not feel the same way she does about certain issues must have been brainwashed by those liberal progressive teachers. There’s no other way that students have come to the conclusion that we have a gun problem in this country other than they have been brainwashed, is there? Oh, will someone please think of the children?

She is not interested in having a school system that creates free thinkers and good debaters. She’s only interested in having a school system that espouses her belief system. Take a look at her PIA requests if you are in doubt of that. We must also point out that someone who loves to lament that the Constitution isn’t being taught in school is surprisingly (?) against students learning how to exercise their First Amendment Rights!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Cindy, along with the rest of her slate, doesn’t want our children to learn about the issues. We are super curious how you are supposed to teach a subject like World War II without talking about “sides.” How anti-intellectual and anti-American can you get, we ask you?!  We are still waiting for her, and her slate, to tell us what qualifications and special skills they possess that give them the authority to tell us what our kids should be learning in school! NOTE: COMMON SENSE IS NOT A MEASURABLE SKILL! Stay vigilant friends! We cannot make the third time the charm for her!

*And lest you think that FCPS isn’t encouraging our students to make their voices heard, here’s another section of the letter we quoted above:

… staff are meeting with student leaders to discuss the variety of ways we can work together to help students express their concerns. As a united school and through student and staff collaboration, we have explored options that include the following:  Creating a video to share student advocacy via school announcements, our website and our multiple means of social media;  Creating short video clips to share on Twitter to help individual students share their perspectives;  Arranging in-school activities during Connect so students can follow the national trend of 17 minutes of advocacy to honor the 17 victims of the recent tragedy in Florida;  Printing and distributing contact information for government officials that students may contact with concerns about legislation and policies;  Providing forums for students to gather signatures on petitions to government officials; and  Ensuring delivery of student-generated concerns to community leaders and elected officials. These potential activities are constantly evolving as we deepen our conversations with students about effective and safe advocacy.
