Yokel thoughts on the election.

First of all, WOW…just WOW! The three that we write most about (Kirby, Billy, and Tony) couldn’t muster up enough votes among their own party to make it to the general election. I guess it wasn’t just us! Billy really got his backside handed to him:

But, still lost. We’ve been asked what we are going to do without these three to write about. And our answer to that is:

For we care more about this county being governed by capable people than having material for the blog. Plus, there will always be SOMEONE.

We’ve been looking around the interwebs and have seen that many, many Republicans are super upset about Afzali snagging the nomination. We even saw this proclamation from Cindy:

Most of those upset (including Cindy; so much for mean what you say and say what you mean…oh wait, she’s just mean) are now advocating for Earl Robbins’ Independent campaign, so you can imagine how that’s all going to work out. Please proceed. Cindy and Blaine are amongst those who have already come out to support him. He must be pleased to receive the Silver Linings Playbook Slate endorsement. The infighting/betrayals of this county party are really a sight to behold, folks!

And yes, Cindy made it through to 6th place out of 8th in the BOE race.  Even she knows that it almost insurmountable. And if you know anyone who is confused about how to vote in the general election, you can find ample evidence online to share with them. Be forewarned: she considers it “bullying” when you cite her own words, er…uh, her own madness against her. Take heart that she received about 1/2 the votes she did last time, so we aren’t too worried. NONE of her slate made it, so thankfully we don’t have to draw your attention to any of them any longer.

Galen Clagett came in last, showing that he wasn’t able to fool enough people into thinking he was some kind of Progressive Democrat!

Let’s all enjoy walking on cloud 9 today. We will regroup to prep for November very soon. Whoo hoo!

What is Clagett playing at? Did anyone else receive his fancy “I’m a progressive” mailer and wonder which Democrats of Frederick County go into a primary election thinking to themselves when they select their At-Large Council Candidates, “I hope he supports #KirbyDelauter!” There are no such creatures, are there? If you exist, Sasquatch, please show yourself! Sometimes we are out here in Yokel land wondering what planet we are on.

Clagett has this great story about how he’s known some a them Good Ol’ Boys (never meanin’ no harm… ♫♬♬ ♫ ♬♬ ) since they were knee high to a gopher. While that’s a great tale of community ties, it does not mean that these toddlers grew up to have any sense. Or, really, that they exited their emotional toddlerhood at any point in their lives, TBH. If you have followed some of these individuals over time, their voting records, their public conduct on the podium, and in once case what one of our fans heroically referred to as what appears to be a person having “several midlife crises at once” would lead you to believe that personal loyalty trumps all common sense. Really, though, it’s just a fondness for developers that they all share a common bond over. Please check back with that prior link, as it has several resources to support our aggravation with this man that we do not have the patience to rehash today.

Time to pay some attention to the Democratic Primary for At-Large Council race! We have four great candidates: Kai Hagen, Mark Long, Susan Reeder Jessee, and Kavonte Duckett. Oh… and Galen Clagett. Notice how his name isn’t linked to anything? That’s because there isn’t anything to link to! No Facebook page, no website, no indication anywhere that the guy is even running!!! What year is this again?

At last evening’s candidate’s forum, Galen accused fellow candidate Kai Hagen of throwing out a “cheap shot” because Kai had the nerve to bring up things that Galen actually did! Take a look:

 

Guess what Mr. Clagett? Knowing Blaine as a child is not a good enough justification to support him as county executive! Especially after all he did during his reign as BOCC President. Your claims of voting in your business’ interests are also unimpressive.Why don’t we take a look at that letter he sent out to his fellow Democrats back in 2014:
