Texsplaining: child trafficking, crime, and immigrants, oh my…

Hey, folks. Two stories popped up on the news junkie radar yesterday, and got us thinking about Sheriff Jenkins “expertise” in a couple of key areas. When Jessica Fitzwater promoted the Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Frederick City Police Department took an active and engaged interest, but the Sheriff’s Department found it unnecessary (and Billy Shreve #neverforget said that some people are in favor of human trafficking) we developed a new awareness of this horrifying issue that our Fredneck Trump Train Faction seems so untroubled by. Oh, and Cindy Rose had some thoughts about that too, now that we recall. It was allegedly some sort of scam for teachers to get more training or something that makes covfefe amount of sense. How could you possibly look more foolish than dismissing the efforts to keep kids from being sex trafficked as an evil liberal teacher plot? But, you do you, crazies. Please proceed.

Well, yesterday The Washington Post had a story about a training program the Texas Department of Public Safety has launched to help officers recognize when they find a child who is being trafficked and what they can do to help. The officers down there have found it to be so helpful, they want to see it go nationwide! This is a fantastic story about good policing–please do follow the link. Isn’t it a wacky coincidence that this type of training was the exact reason cited for forming a task force locally? Is there some reason we wouldn’t be promoting good policing?

It’s incredibly disheartening to review the local discussions surrounding this issue. The more we learn about it, the more monstrous the ambivalence toward–or, more accurately, the hostility toward–acting to stop this seems.

Every damn day these people make us ask…

But there’s more Texsplaining to do because another thing that we read yesterday in The Houston Chronicle deals with immigrants and crime. We’ve bristled before at our local “expert” on the border and what exactly would qualify someone on the Mason-Dixon border to act as a special adviser on these matters. Well, it seems that the quite well-known and esteemed conservative think tank, The Cato Institute, has research indicating that undocumented immigrants in Texas are less likely to commit crimes than native born Texans are. In the immortal words of Rick Perry, “Ewps.”

“Using data from the Texas Department of Public Safety, researchers from the conservative think tank Cato Institute found the arrest rate for undocumented immigrants was 40 percent below that of native-born Texans.” — Fernando Ramirez, The Houston Chronicle, March 6, 2018

Law enforcement officers in real border states uphold sanctuary policies as a tool to help them to solve crimes because it increases the reporting of those crimes and the cooperation of witnesses. It seems like The Cato Institute’s research suggests something in support of that thinking. Maybe we could learn a thing or two from people who have first-hand experience and research in support of their positions? Just a thought.

Cindy Rose upchucks her talking points word salad

As you may have heard, Cindy Rose is (unsurprisingly) running for Board of Education. Cindy Rose thinks up crazy things, sometimes with the help of Rush Limbaugh. Election 2018 is cranked, and ugh, please make it stop. Presumably this guy in his MAGA cap (yeah we Snopsed it for ya!) is the reason we are seeing this effort to somehow make it the fault of progressives that this human waste became a monster. According to Lady Rose this murderer who shot up his school is the real victim here. Oh, the poor Rosemary’s Baby. #PartyOfPersonalResponsibility much?

crazy shooter dude gets blamed on the liberals
Do you see that snowflake b.s. up there? This woman is like Donald Trump. She does not have the appropriate temperament to hold the office she seeks, and yet she will try it anyway. Be vigilant, folks. You know what could happen. Heed the cautionary tale.

We’ve taken up the cause of warning her to keep her crazy tucked in previously, but it is an uphill battle, as evidenced by her blaming it upon the evils of progressivism that kept his access to that weapon legal, and ensured that laws to take guns from people who everyone in the community is already terrified of do not exist. Is that what we are to understand? Color us skeptical, maybe. She bangs out this hate fueled and twisted excuse for this psycho, extends all the empathy to him as the real victim in the situation, and then has the audacity to ask how the kids of conservative parents got so liberal. Go figure, lady.

Also, apologies for our elitism, but Mrs. Rose’s post would fail as an elementary school writing assignment, so is she really the right person to take up the mantle of improving education? There’s no citation for or even explanation of her dubious claims, and as a person who is constantly e-mail blasting the school system she should know that the written constructed response is a typical third grade curriculum item, covering along with it the “cite and explain” portion of the rubric. Is she agreeing with us that we have been bombarded with apocalyptic climate change and systemic racism? She hurls hatred at the liberals and, to read her words, would appear simultaneously gravely concerned about liberal issues. (The irony that she was all over the inter webs favoring English-Only legislation when she is not exactly demonstrating mastery of the native tongue is aggravating, in retrospect.) Sigh. Please don’t elect this woman. We have a whole catalog of reasons why, even when we have sometimes agreed with her.

This is from a July 12, 2015 “discussion” of the English Only Ordinance on the Frederick County Council Watch Facebook Page. One of the premium services this online community provides is self-cataloguing their bad ideas, illogical thinking, and personal insults in a forum where you can just bang some search terms in and find evidence to cite.

In conclusion, let’s ponder what Marjory Stoneman Douglas, the namesake of the high school where some very inspiring young activists have given us the first reason in quite awhile to be optimistic about the direction this country is headed, and who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work to protect the environment (and because of that was in the White House the same day to witness the signing of The Brady Bill), would think of Cindy Rose’s nonsense up there. She said:

Be a nuisance where it counts. Do your part to inform and stimulate the public to join your action. Be depressed, discouraged, and disappointed at failure and the disheartening effects of ignorance, greed, corruption and bad politics—but never give up.

We intend to follow her wise advice.

Please come to the “education townhall” devoid of ideas

ContentThriftyDalmatian-size_restricted
Make our schools like 1950 again!

Perpetual BOE Candidate You Know Who is planning an “education townhall” on Feb 27th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the C. Burr Artz public library. Since it’s at the library it’s required to be open to anyone who wants to attend, so please share widely. Surely it will be… uh…educational. It is worth noting that Cindy Rose filed today to run again for the Board of Education. I guess her previous losses left her wanting more of the same so let’s make sure she finally gets the message that we don’t want her on our board.

Topics to discuss are a bullet list of how to feel aggrieved. This means you are in luck if you hate those people who have a great idea that they will volunteer anyone but themselves to do the legwork on. This is an exclusive event for the airing of grievances, entirely free of action items.

– Do you or did you feel left out of your child’s education? (Would you still feel left out of it if you weren’t involved in litigation/exchanging eleventy bazillion emails with the FCPS Administration and BOE during times that other people are at PTA meetings or assisting in classrooms?)

– Are you currently disappointed in what your child is learning? Were you disappointed in what your child was learning? (Do you think it unnecessary and frightening to learn facts about things that have vast geopolitical ramifications, such as the world’s largest religion? Does learning a different way than you were taught 40 years ago frighten and disgust you?)

– Do you or did you feel you were not a partner in your child’s education? (If you did feel that you were a partner in education, on a scale of 1 to 10 how frightened were you of the school restrooms?)

Please come out and share your thoughts and concerns with local community members and education activists, whether or not you received the personalized pitchfork and tiki torch invite.

Local Yokel suggested items to discuss:

How about brainstorming on ideas that will make you a real partner in education instead of an adversary?

What can the community do to help alleviate over-testing?

What can I do to help advocate for more education budget dollars to attract and keep the best teachers in Frederick County?

How can I make sure that all kids have access to the appropriate learning level?

How can I contribute to ensuring we have adequate schools for our growing county?

If you have your own wishlist of items, please plan to attend. We’d love to hear how your feedback at the meeting is received.

how-dare-you-question-the-will-of-the-echo-chamber
Oh, please, please, question it.

Lookey, lookey. Someone still hasn’t gotten the message.

Seriously?
It’s okay Snowball.  We will tell everyone all they need to know about this.

Cindy, I will PIA you to the death, Rose is preparing to throw her hat back in the Board of Education ring. Again. We are counting. She has lost twice so far. We are happy for her to go ahead and lose a third time.

Her assertion that she espouses conservative common sense values unlike those touchy feely progressives is ridiculous. Common sense is not subjective.

Your yokels are on the case and prepared to remind you of all her past and planned nonsense. First you must read this diatribe.

Wow
All the cofevee in one place!

We have our own opinions on who is irrational around here. You can make up your own mind.

Click here for a refresher on Cindy Rose.

Or here,

Or here,

Or even here.

That is enough links for today.

Take our “Who could it be poll?!” It’s not hard we promise!

How we wish we could!

Here we are minding our own business on this nice Sunday afternoon, and this pops into our Facebook feed:

Click here to read the whole story, but here’s the gist of it:

The lawsuit argues that the policy violates the girl’s fundamental right to bodily privacy, and her mother’s fundamental parental rights regarding the care and upbringing of her child.”

The “mother” is not named, but we can pretty much guess who it is. Especially since “she” said she would do this very thing if the BOE passed this policy. Let’s see if we are all on the same page:

These types of suits have not been successful because the burden is on the plaintiff to prove they are being harmed. Too bad our school system has to not only be burdened with someone who assaults them with numerous PIA requests, but also has to waste money and resources to defend these types of lawsuits.

UPDATE: Here’s the Federal Court link: https://dockets.justia.com/docket/maryland/mddce/1:2017cv02302/397187

Plaintiff’s names are “Mary Smith” and “Jane Doe”.

We thought things were supposed to slow down in the summer!

There is so much to point out to you today. It seems the lazy days of summer don’t apply in these here parts.

First let’s give kudos to the Frederick County Board of Education for passing policy 443 last night! It is so wonderful that our little yokels are in a school system that values each child. Which is more than we can say for some members of our community:

2017-06-15 (5)

And  we don’t know whether to laugh or cry at her other post regarding this issue:

2017-06-15 (6)
It feels as though we should do something nice for the FCPS legal department that has to sort through her requests.

On the other side of town from the BOE meeting, Sheriff Jenkins was holding court at Winchester Hall. He was having himself a little shindig about 287 (g). Kirby was a little confused as to what side he was supposed to be on:

2017-06-15 (4)
Durp!

And look! Angry lady from public comment the other night was out not looking so angry:

Inked19142955_1533942826658200_4456971497031785609_o_LI
Maybe we can start our very own game of Where’s Waldo with this gal!

And speaking of public commenters, our new fave, Matt Seubert, wrote a very informative piece about the Monocacy River Board in today’s edition of The Frederick Extra.  If you missed our piece, that goes along nicely with what he had to say, on what is going on in Carroll County click on over.

Guess what we think of your feelings, Cindy Rose.

Failed BOE candidate Cindy Rose has scribed an irrational fury bomb about FCPS and tossed it on the world via The Sucky Octopus Feeler. We cannot ever recommend clicking that. And we thought she would crawl under a sea rock and go away (just kidding, unfortunately–we did not think that).

She is seething angry because FCPS needs to adopt a transgender policy for the school potties now that Pres-o-Dent Bull-in-China-Shop has reversed the mandate that icked some people out, and she seems to be insinuating that business interests and the like are probably behind this because it is always some business interest or social activist (irony alert: what does she think she is in this scenario? a diplomat?). Plus, this is silly. Lobbyists do not go directly to her archnemesis Dr. Alban when they want all their wildest dreams to come true. Sure, Pearson makes the megamoolah on tests and curriculum. They do that by getting widespread legislative changes enacted by elected officials, not going small taters to the superintendent. Having a policy for inclusivity is probably not where the big bucks are. Unless…is it the Joe the Plumber lobby????? Heinh????

In her twisted world, the fact that FCPS seeks to avoid discriminating against transgender students is somehow discriminating against her. This lady is so filled with loathing that she will find any excuse to pick a fight with the school system. All others who may have special needs and concerns be damned.

Sometimes we do agree with Cindy Rose, like when school testing seems stupid, wasteful, and inappropriate to student needs. And also now. We can just hold a mirror up!

Ms. Rose also is angry (is there another way for her to be?) because the school system will not let her sit in on their school culture training. Look, this is obviously perfectly understandable, if sensitive to explain. We all know a portion of the school culture seminar is, “What you do with whackalooney parents who will not stop sending you 70 bajillion PIA requests per day.” Letting her sit in there–even all quiet and not spitting and hopping around–like a fly on the wall would just be all kinds of awkward.

Ms. Rose says that Dr. Alban likened her PIA addiction to a person who calls 911 abusively, and if you will follow the links in that PIA request link you will see that it is a crying shame that Dr. Alban failed to note that on some occasions it is like that woman who called 911 from the drive-thru at McDonald’s because she was tired of waiting for her McNuggets.

Return of the untucked craziness. Volume: Infinity.

It ain’t good folks!

At the conclusion of the last BOE election we were all so happy to let Cindy Rose rest in our archives. Not forgetting about her, since we suspect she will try to make another run, but very happy indeed not to have to worry about her being on the board.

Of course we’ve seen her here and there on Facebook saying some things that we certainly do NOT agree with. But hey, everyone (including us) has the right to their opinion. And thank Zeus above she wasn’t in any position of power to do anything about her rants!

Then today came. Ignoring her was no longer an option.

On two separate appearances on WFMD, Ms. Rose called in to share her concerns about Board of Education policy 443.1.  This proposed policy simply makes official what FCPS has already been doing regarding transgender students for the past six years. It should be no mystery, that in this current political climate, the BOE would feel the need to set this policy in stone, should it?

According to the written article on WFMD’s website, Cindy was quoted as saying:

“It seeks to create a protected class of students with rights above and beyond the rights of regular boys and girls”.

Knowing that the written report of these conversations never gives you the full flavor, we went back and listened. And people, please devote the 14 minutes to listen to this, because not only do we suspect that you will be horrified by what Cindy has to say, but by Bob Miller’s two cents on the subject as well.

During this conversation Cindy not only informs us that transgender students will have rights above “regular boys and girls” (what is regular anyway?), but that all the progress we women have made since Title IX was passed will be lost. You see folks, Cindy ran track in school and if there was a transgender girl on her team, well hell, no more blue ribbons for her.  In fact her exact words were girls “will have to sit in the back of the bus”.  Just like African-Americans had to in the time of segregation!

She is also upset because the FCPS policy states that schools do not have to report to the student’s parents if they identify as transgender. Cindy thinks that this insinuates that all parents will beat their kids if they found out they were transgender. This she finds “unconscionable.”  Well, it would certainly be nice if every child felt they could safely tell their parents that they were gay, transgender or anything out of the norm for their family. However, the reality can be quite different for some. Her hyperbolic angry rant over this part of the policy is unbelievably naive.

Cindy ends her interview with Bob by stating that she will file a lawsuit against FCPS should this policy pass on the 14th. So along with her bazillion PIA requests, the school system will now have to waste money defending against a lawsuit that they will most certainly win. (Transgender students almost always win these kinds of lawsuits. Google it!) Keep your eyes open folks, we predict she will try to get a seat in 2018.

We here at the Yokel look forward to the day when we don’t have to argue about this stuff anymore. While a considerable amount of progress has been made, it’s very frustrating that some are still trying to put up road blocks.  Cindy is calling for people to show up to the June 14th meeting to voice their opposition, so we need to have more people there in support. Click on this Facebook event for more info.

Let’s bring back the Black List!! What could go wrong?

64365969

In today’s edition of “Guess who wasn’t paying attention in History class” we have this little nugget:

2016-12-31

That’s right folks pass it along!!! According to some criteria that “someone” gets to determine, college professors will be added to a “watchlist”. OOOHHH Scary!!! We love how the American Association of College Professors have reacted to it, because really McCarthy lovers screw you:

2016-12-31-52016-12-31-6

We wish that was all we had to bring you but there is a comment on Kirby’s post that needs attention:

2016-12-31-1

That’s right!!! ALL Liberal Scum Teachers need to be placed on the list!!! Oh we would love to see the criteria to be placed upon said list! And where’s the watch list for Right Wing Propaganda Professors? Tis only fair!

witchhunts-mccarthy
So much easier!

It’s at this point that we really must congratulate the voters of Frederick County for keeping this one off the school board! Can you imagine if she had any kind of real power to do such a thing? Jeeze o’flip people!!!

For those of you who praise Putin, want to replace investigative journalism with Twitter and think it’s all find and dandy to black list people, we have this for you:

Think  before you post people!!

These sour grapes are fermenting.

download
They don’t look good on you.

In yet another example of being out of synch with the rest of the county, and out of touch in general, Cindy Rose has filed an ethics complaint against Terry Alban FCPS Superintendent.

The FNP article covering this complaint can be read here.

Our superintendent was recently named Superintendent of the Year for the state of Maryland, so we don’t think we are the only ones who think she is doing more than an adequate job.

We can’t help but feel the only one politicizing the award her son received at school is Rose herself.

She wasn’t able to win a seat on the Board of Education so she is continuing her vendetta against the Superintendent by filing this bogus sounding complaint.

Stop pushing your personal agenda on the rest of the county. You have other options such as private or home school if you really are unhappy. Stop wasting all of our tax dollars with your thousands of PIA’s and complaints!!!

If you are new here you catch up on previous Cindy drama here, here, here, here, and oh, there are more but we are tired of linking.

Thank goodness she didn’t win.
