What a great time to be #TeamRussia!

We have two local office runners who feel Team Russia is the side to take! First up, insurrectionist Dan Cox! Of course it’s no surprise that he falls on the side of Trump who called Putin’s aggressive actions genius. Behold:

We are always amazed by his poor writing skills.

Here’s what he’s liking on Twitter today!

Perennial school board candidate has many green thoughts about the situation, and of course it’s ignorant as all get out.

Oh it’s exactly what it seems dummy.
Uh.. God the world this woman lives in.
What an intelligent, classy, and well formed thought!
Sigh.

Stay vigilant folks! We cannot let people with poor judgment into our political arena!

A potpourri of dumbf@ckery!

This election year is going to be a hot mess! And this is coming from a group of gals who followed Billy Shreve, Kirby Deluater, Blaine Young, and Tony Chmelik for years! We must guard our local government against the people who have no idea what’s going on outside their partisan bubble.

We’ll get you all nice and updated with our perennial foe, Cindy Rose, first! If you want to steel yourself with a shot of tequila, you’ll get no judgement from us!

When’s the last time she was in the company of other humans? Any English teachers want to use their red pen on this one?

Nope! Grow up! (Editor’s note: do y’all think this means she reaaaaally wants to be able to use the n word?)

Seriously!

Science teachers beware!

This last post is seriously one of the dumbest things we have ever read. Why fund studies? Why do experiments? Cindy has all the anecdotal evidence y’all will ever need! Folks, if we allow someone who wants to ban books, remove sex education from the curriculum because she finds it disrespectful, and apparently believes her stories trump peer-reviewed studies, why do we even have a school system? But that’s the point: make no mistake, that’s the absolute goal of Cindy and these other Republicans. They want to dismantle and delegitimize public education.

Yeah, that’s the reason. And so very rich coming from someone who wants to restrict information in the schools! And we think you mean “where,” not “were.”

Unfortunately we need to move on to Dan Cox and his delusional campaign for governor.

Dan claims that he’s a lawyer, but man his lack of knowledge is just embarrassing.

Seems like a good time to bring this back up!

Wondering what he’s been up to during this legislative session?

NB: Not that we would have been Tories back in the day, but Cox aligns himself instinctively? habitually? both? with overthrowing the government. Since he thinks Pence is a traitor, given all we know about current events, it’s a terrible look.

The opposition to a ghost gun ban is really special in light of the fact that a child was shot at a Montgomery County high school recently with a ghost gun. Dan (who didn’t attend public school nor do his children) doesn’t seem to realize that not all parents are good parents, and that for some kids school is the only place where they can talk to a trusted adult. Forcing school personnel to disclose certain information can lead to real harm to these children, both psychologically and physically. Impeaching an out-going governor is also a fun throw-in! Wonder where he copied and pasted that from! But Dan doesn’t live in the real world, just click on through this link to see our previous reporting on his past antics.

One last look at Dan’s amazing logic:

Whoa! That’s a lot to unpack! Maybe he is (gasp!) even more confused than we thought, though, since the Tories would have thought much the same of General Washington’s guerilla warriors. Pick an idea, Dan!

Isn’t it stunning how many Republicans worship Putin these days?

We’ll end on the other Republican candidate for governor, since dismantling public education seems to be the theme of this election year:

Let’s unpack this a bit shall we? Charter schools have not shown any better outcomes, especially the for-profit ones. Which are the ones Republicans push for because it makes money for their cronies. Schools have been open and those that have closed around the country have been the ones WITHOUT mask mandates. Curriculums and standards ARE already posted online, stop being lazy and look. What defines partisan politics? We would love an answer please! And do these safe school initiatives include keeping weapons out of the schools? We’ll be waiting……

Anyone in the mood for a good old-fashioned book banning?!

The dream library of those who haven’t picked up a book since high school.

Surely you’ve heard of the Tennessee board of education’s decision to ban the graphic novel Maus, an account of the Holocaust. This board of education cited dubious claims of mouse nudity and profanity as to why children should not have their precious little eyes tainted by its pages. The grown ups in the room know it’s just another attempt to eradicate history and control information.

Let’s swing on back to our upcoming BOE election because it’s super important to be vigilant about these local elections. So, ICYMI, Cindy Rose is a book banner and we have all kinds of fun receipts!

We would like to take you back to 2018! In the post linked above, you will see some emails that Cindy wrote to FCPS about books (that she admittedly didn’t read!) that she didn’t want available to our students! The subject of those books apparently don’t fit reality as she sees it, so no child should be allowed to read them! I mean come on folks do you really want someone like Cindy deciding what is and isn’t appropriate for your kids to read? Especially when she didn’t even bother to read the books she’s complaining about?

Nothing to see here folks! But come on! When do snake’s oil advertisements equal real science? Just another example of her critical thinking skills.

In the above mentioned post, you will also get to see a Facebook post about the children’s book, Click Clack Moo! (And yes we really did contact the author!) She’s afraid that the cows and chickens in the story demanding the farmer give them blankets when they are cold will cause all the little children to revolt! Against what isn’t clear.

Cindy and her peeps really need to grow up.

Cindy also has some new thoughts about the FCPS hiring process:

The amazing thing about Cindy and people like her is that they think they are espousing American values! When, in fact, they want compliance to their way of thinking only! How un-American can you get?

A book that really affected one of your Lady Yokels when she was a wee lass was a book called Mexicali Soup.

In this book family members, one by one, come into the kitchen asking the matriarch to remove an item from the soup. At dinner time the family is shocked to learn the menu consists of only hot water. If everyone wants to remove something they don’t like, we are eventually left with nothing.

Frequently banned author, Stephen King, has lots of good thoughts about what do about these book banners (It’s long but well worth it):

First, to the kids: There are people in your home town who have taken certain books off the shelves of your school library. Do not argue with them; do not protest; do not organize or attend rallies to have the books put back on their shelves. Don’t waste your time or your energy. Instead, hustle down to your public library, where these frightened people’s reach must fall short in a democracy, or to your local bookstore, and get a copy of what has been banned. Read it carefully and discover what it is your elders don’t want you to know. In many cases you’ll finish the banned book in question wondering what all the fuss was about. In others, however, you will find vital information about the human condition. It doesn’t hurt to remember that John Steinbeck, J.D. Salinger, and even Mark Twain have been banned in this country’s public schools over the last 20 years.

Second, to the parents in these towns: There are people out there who are deciding what your kids can read, and they don’t care what you think because they are positive their ideas of what’s proper and what’s not are better, clearer than your own. Do you believe they are? Think carefully before you decide to accord the book-banners this right of cancellation, and remember that they don’t believe in democracy but rather in a kind of intellectual autocracy. If they are left to their own devices, a great deal of good literature may soon disappear from the shelves of school libraries simply because good books — books that make us think and feel — always generate controversy.

If you are not careful and diligent about defending the right of your children to read, there won’t be much left, especially at the junior-high level where kids really begin to develop a lively life of the mind, but books about heroic boys who come off the bench to hit home runs in the bottom of the ninth and shy girls with good personalities who finally get that big prom date with the boy of their dreams. Is this what you want for your kids, keeping in mind that controversy and surprise — sometimes even shock — are often the whetstone on which young minds are sharpened?

Third, to the other interested citizens of these towns: Please remember that book-banning is censorship, and that censorship in a free society is always a serious matter — even when it happens in a junior high, it is serious. A proposal to ban a book should always be given the gravest consideration. Book-banners, after all, insist that the entire community should see things their way, and only their way. When a book is banned, a whole set of thoughts is locked behind the assertion that there is only one valid set of values, one valid set of beliefs, one valid perception of the world. It’s a scary idea, especially in a society which has been built on the ideas of free choice and free thought.

Whoa! Those last few lines really say it all. We can’t let the book banners (and don’t forget about that slate she’s running with) on our board. Free thought and ideas, including critical examination of our nation’s history, are crucial in education. We’ll leave you with one last post we wrote a few months back:

Don’t let the fascists win!

Cindy Rose’s Facebook posts….a response in memes.

This year Cindy Rose and friends are attempting to pull off a coup against our local school board. It’s her fourth time trying, and the fourth time we must send her packing. You won’t enjoy her latest posts, but hopefully you’ll enjoy our memes.

Maybe someone needs a subscription to Hulu so she can watch Dopesick. We would suggest reading the book, but we don’t want to risk her writing to the BOE again to ban the book for any “unsavory content”.
Do your research Cindy!

Cindy thinks she can override the Constitution! How neat! And we must point out how irritating it is to see school board candidates who can’t spell worth a damn.
No maybe about it!
Cindy’s political instincts are as bad as Dan’s!
At least they should, but alas!

We don’t even want to know what she did two days after the insurrection!

So very brave!

What does this even mean? We only listen to medical advice from people who live within the borders of our county?

We sure have!
People who just make some stuff up should not expect to be taken seriously, especially if they sincerely believe it while disregarding empirical evidence. (And that looks like someone to keep an eye on, District 2 folks!)
Seriously!
Hopefully Big Bird still triggers them!

This is the first of many posts about the BOE race this year. We know many aren’t happy with the current board, and with good reason! However, we can’t make it worse. And this one and her ilk will absolutely make it worse. Let’s all encourage our capable friends and neighbors to run this year! We need sane, thoughtful people on the board. Not this hot mess!

Your Yokel 2021 Countdown!

See if you can find the common theme!

A little grim… but our art reflects the times!

It’s that time of year when we recap the top ten posts of year! There’s a few people on our list that you really need to stay on top of this year. If they slither their way into any decision making authority, things will get dramatically worse around here. That’s a guarantee you can take to the bank!

In the #10 position is a post entitled “How low will we go with Cindy Rose on the board?” It’s a question we should seriously ponder before heading out to that voting booth next year.

Next on the #9 spot on our list was a rare opportunity to write about the three amigos: Shreve, Delauter, and Young. We don’t get these opportunities very often, but when they write a ridiculous LTE we can’t just sit back and say nothing.

Our number 8 post proves we are soothsayers when we predicted just how crazy things were going to get up here (and if you’ve been following us for awhile you know the gravity of that statement!).

In our #7 spot is a post we wrote regarding our feelings about the January 6th insurrection. There’s lots of screenshots from our local characters in this post so you can remind yourself just how terrible a lot of these people are.
In our 6th most popular post of the year, we try to follow Dan Cox’s logic, though we know by now what a worthless endeavor that is. Lately Dan has been complaining on Twitter how he’s been put in Facebook jail for sharing ridiculous videos. How old is he again?
We also feel the need to stick this in here again:
#neverforget

In the 5th spot is the theme we told you to look for. It’s when we warned y’all that Cindy was going to try for the 4th time to run for the school board. Stay alert folks!

In our number 4 space is our post regarding Blaine’s attempt at a write in campaign. Thankfully only a smidgen of the city’s voters fell for this farce.
In our 3rd most popular post we showed you how we suffer for you by keeping on top of the threat that Cindy is to our local school board. Lift a toast to us!
#2 circles back to Blaine’s inane idea that he should be mayor, while of course outsourcing the job to someone else. Just when you think you’ve heard them all!
And in our most popular post of the year, we once again sound the alarm over Cindy Rose et al.’s campaign to take over our education system. Make sure to share this one with all interested parties.

That’s a wrap on this year folks! Next year is a big local election year around here so be prepared for some drama! We will be here to see you through it.

How low will we go with Cindy Rose on the board?

It isn’t a question we want to ponder. With 11 months until the election we all need to make sure we are making good choices for our next school board. In this edition of Why We Can’t Let This Thrice Loser on the Board we will explore some recent shares on her Tentacle account.

Becker news?

Everyone in this county should be super skeptical of how a person who thinks they aren’t gullible, but in reality is susceptible to really dumb propaganda, would handle very real health crises in our schools. At the Yokel we like to joke that if Cindy lived in Alabama she would be a Bernie bro since it seems as though she’s more interested in being a contrarian than in formulating any logical positions on just about anything.

Uh, students are not being tested every day. But of course she has no real grasp of the day to day operations of FCPS.

Because neo pink gorillas in the room is not a thing! And neither is what she is implying!

Yet another example of her glaring ignorance of the FCPS curriculum. Has she read any of the standards? And we challenge her to define specifically what CRT is and how it relates to any FCPS standard.

We saved the worst for last:

What are these news sources?

Cindy has a problem with the LGBTQ+ community. She tried to sue FCPS over their regulation allowing students to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. She used the argument that a girl had harassed her daughter in a locker room as the reason, which we still don’t get because it is in no way related to this regulation, but alas…when has she ever made sense? But to suggest that teachers are creepily recruiting kids into LGBTQ+ clubs not only reveals what kind of person she is, but also shows us her lack of critical thinking skills.

Her ridiculous slate had their first “event” last week; it’s hard to ascertain how many people showed up from their Facebook post. But we are going to speculate wildly and guess: less than 50, predominantly white, with a median age of about 65. Prove us wrong!

Stay alert folks. We will keep following Kirby’s advice and follow the money on the Maryland Campaign fundraising page.

Is the band back together? Where is Yoko when you need her?

From the looks of this letter, we may have to define equivalence!

Blaine, Billy, and Kirby collaborated on an LTE this weekend to show us they don’t have three brain cells to rub together! What’s the reason for this bumbling reunion dispatch?! It seems the three amigos are very upset that there hasn’t been the protest “on the street corner” and debate around the water cooler about the current tax rebate that there was when they gave a $100 tax rebate back in 2012. Here’s our favorite part that really shows how these folks feel about the electorate they used to serve:

Parents voicing the need for new schools and updated schools. Nonprofits screaming about needed funding. People claiming and chanting we don’t want the measly $100 — use it for the areas in government that have a need: education, the sheriff’s office, fire and rescue, the nursing home and many social services. Then future candidate for county executive, Jan Gardner stated at debates how foolish the decision was.

Maybe, just maybe, someone should have advocated for more educational funding when they were in school! Let’s think back to these fabled days of yore they are referring to. With the exception of David Gray, the only thing this board attempted to do was privatize and dismantle as many government services as possible. They sold off the county’s nursing homes. (A move reversed by Jan Gardner) Refused to fund schools above the MOE (Maintenance of Effort) level. They told FCPS to look into building cheaper metal buildings because the schools were too fancy these days. They took away the county’s funding of the Head Start program because why can’t all the women just stay home like their wives did? They expected all county offices to do more with less! This was also done because Blaine was running for the county executive position AND both Kirby and Billy wanted a seat on the county council. So fellas, the only difference IS NOT party affiliation.

Before you Republicans get too excited, remember both Blaine and Kirby have left the Republican party. Kirby even shared this on Facebook:

And remember folks, when letters like this start appearing, it means someone is looking for a come-back. Stay vigilant!

It’s a Cox Trumpsgiving miracle!

Boy, do we have some good stuff for you this morning! Insurrectionist Dan Cox once again proves that he has the absolute worst political instincts of any American political candidate, anywhere!

Complete and total endorsement! How fancy!

This really begs the question: Does Dan know what state he lives in?

Where does most of Maryland’s population live? It’s not that hard to find out!

Larry Hogan had a bit of fun with this yesterday:

And a very obvious one!

It’s very apparent that Dan doesn’t want to win. If he did, he would have taken a page out of Youngkin’s playbook and avoided Trump like the plague. But then again, critical thinking isn’t one of Dan’s strong suits!

We’ll leave you with some comments from the FNP article on this travesty:

That’s all you can do with these people!

#neverforget:

Write in campaign for Blaine? Can things get any dumber around here?

Yeah don’t answer that one!

If you follow our Facebook or Twitter you are now aware of the horror that is the winner of the Republican nomination for mayor. We’ve read the article at least 4 times, because even for around here it’s a special level of cray cray.

It really begs the question, do the Republicans even care about local races anymore? Or is their party so fractured by the orange menace that this is the best they can be expected to do for a good long while?

Don’t fret though! Because some local Republicans have a really ridiculous Plan B!

We don’t even know where to begin with this shoddy plan. First of all, let’s all step back and remember all the harm he did in this county. Secondly, let’s remember his very poorly worded post in which he said he wasn’t even going to be mayor, he was going to outsource the job!

#neverforget!

And thirdly, he knew he couldn’t win the primary and now we are wondering if this was the plan all along!

Stop embarrassing yourselves folks! Even if we don’t agree with your political philosophies, this is all very hard to watch!

How we suffer for our art!

Well, it does make our job easier when she does!

With the next school board election over a year away, we are going to have to pace ourselves on our reporting of Cindy et al. But man oh man, is there a lot of material to work with here! And since they are starting early, we need to as well if not to only shine a light on the incompetence, but also to save ourselves from going down another local Trumpy hole.

Here’s the latest list of OH MY GOD IS SHE EVEN BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!

Should people who can’t spell quarantine be allowed to speak of quarantine? And she ignores all scientific studies so how are we to prove it? Unmask the kids and see what happens? Theraputic jab? What is the meaning of the word theraputic?

Time for the next bit of bad comedy:

Let us bankrupt the school system by making them fight off frivolous lawsuits in order to put forth our misunderstandings of how things work! Maybe Insurrectionist Dan Cox can copy and paste a useless lawsuit for her.
Doesn’t big pharma make Ivermectin? Because she supports using that!
OMG! Everyone knew they were doing this! This is not new! Wow! Wow! Wow!

Her new slate has a very leading/misleading survey going on which would be laughable if it wasn’t so scary. You can take a look here for the full text, (go ahead and fill it out for them if you’ve got some time on your hands!) but we’ll take you on a little tour:

And really that is what this is all about. These folks, except for Cindy, do not have kids in our school system. One of them homeschooled their children and has no interaction at all with FCPS except for showing up at public comment lately unmasked! They don’t care about public education, teachers, or kids. Their goal is to dismantle and sow discord. So, even if you have been dissatisfied with the board lately, this is not the ship to correct the course.

We don’t want to end up here folks! But that’s exactly where these people will take us.

Next up, we’ll start following the money to see who is funding our new slate!
