Kirby Delauter, local poster boy for bothsidesism, is wrong

Here are two dueling local radio hosts: Dave Schmidt being 100% accurate, and Bob Miller with #teamdelauter not catching on that the Nazis are still the bad guys. They are debating over a characteristically ridiculous statement Kirby made to Danielle Gaines of the  Frederick News Post.

Here’s the money quote. “I don’t condone any of it. One side’s as bad as the other. We should all get together with the one common goal to make this country great,” he said.

The alt-right is not a thing. It is a rebranding, because supposedly we all know that. If you look at the Totally Nazi Invitation for “Unite the Right” there are Third Reich eagles all over it along with the “Heritage Not Hate LOL WTF” flag. It’s weird how those things are always hanging out together. Birds of a feather, etc. If there were no Nazi rally, with their Nazi graphic design, there would not have been a thing. The Nazi side actually killed someone. Get a flipping clue here, people.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

One side is out at night carrying torches and making Klan salutes, but in 2017 they are brazen enough to have their Klanfest without even having the decency to cover their pasty faces. Look how samesies the other side is, out at night having a candlelight vigil for a young lady killed by a Nazi. “Both sides!!!!!”

We will put this debate to rest in a format that maybe…possibly…even Kirby Delauter–flowchart challenged as he is–can comprehend.

Buckle up buttercup! Kirby’s going to take us on a bumpy ride!

We had a lot of company this week in calling out Kirby Delauter for his assertion that the U.S. Civil War was fought over “total freedom.” Both Seventh State and Red Maryland took Kirby to task for the completely inaccurate assessment that this war had nothing to do with race.

Yesterday we shared a screen shot of Kirby’s response to the writer of the Seventh State piece on our Facebook page. Here’s part of the conversation in case you missed it:

Sorry, Shadow! There’s no way for us to clear all that up for you!

Besides coming across as a bully, does he understand the concept of on and off the record? We think not. And how is taking what he said and writing about it a hit piece? A hit piece is presenting false or biased information. Just because he didn’t want everyone to see his stream of consciousness, doesn’t mean any of it isn’t true! If anything, the citizens of this county have the right to know how the person who wants to lead our fine county feels about these types of issues!

So, why all the outrage? We figured it out last night when we saw the Frederick News Post piece entitled:

“Political Notes: Delauter says Facebook post not intended to stoke Civil War threats”

You see, Kirby no likey when he has to talk to the FNP reporters. So, instead of taking any responsibility for his posts, (or learning any lessons from his endless social media gaffes) he goes after one of the bloggers who dared to point out his own words to everyone else. And, he didn’t do himself any favors in this “on the record” interview with Danielle Gaines either. Just check this quote out:

“I don’t condone any of it. One side’s as bad as the other. We should all get together with the one common goal to make this country great,” he said.

Isn’t that so very Trumpy of Kirby!? There is NO moral equivalence between the two sides in Charlottesville. Nazis are always the bad guys, Kirby!! White Supremacists are always on the wrong side! We will not for one second tolerate this moral equivalency!

He also doubles down on his reasons for why the war was fought and why he thinks we have problems today (Spolier alert: It’s all the leftists fault!):

Delauter said he does believe that the primary issue driving the Civil War was states’ rights.

“The slavery was obviously part of that, but I think the crux of it was states’ rights, the South wanting to secede,” he said.

He said he thinks the primary issues of today are not based in race, but in politics.

“I don’t think the crux of our problem of what is going on is race. I think it’s a deeper problem of division from the right and the left,” Delauter said. “… The left is trying to shove everything down everyone’s throat, removing statues. Everything they want, they gotta get or they riot, they burn things down, they destroy property.”

Kirby, read the Secession documents! Anyone who thinks that the Nazi side wasn’t the bad guys, watch this:

You may have naively thought that Kirby would step away from the computer for a few days. But, you would be very wrong indeed:

Mike Signer is the mayor of Charlottesville in case you didn’t know.

Is this the kind of “straight shooter” we want running our county?

Hashtag and History: Never the twain shall meet!

Yes, Professor # of District 5 tell us more!

Ever since an angry white supremacist murdered nine innocent people five years ago, we have been re-examining our national reverence of Confederate symbols and statues. Many city and state governments, including jurisdictions in Maryland, have come to the conclusion that yeah it’s pretty messed up that we allow traitors and people who fought to keep slavery on pedestals!

Well, County Executive candidate #kirbydelauter has some thoughts on this issue:

Screenshot (66)

What kind of history instruction did Kirby receive that he wasn’t able to understand the causes of the Civil War? Obviously not an adequate one:

Screenshot (67)

TRUE FREEDOM?? Man, that has to be the single most ironic assessment of the Civil War that these Yokel eyes have ever had the displeasure of seeing! And we can only imagine the intellectual depths of this conversation that took place at Thurmont’s very own country club!

Whether Kirby knows it or not, he and others like him, are victims of ” The Lost Cause” movement which sought through books, movies and STATUES to propagate a false history about the war. It sought to glorify and misconstrue ( think State’s Rights) the cause and deify those in charge, especially Robert E. Lee. Many, if not most, of these statues were erected in the 20th century during the time of Jim Crow. If that message is lost on you, then read this explanation that hangs in the Atlanta History Center:

12039385_10153318510176305_1018021135386985714_n

These statues are symbols of division and hate. Removing them from public places does not mean that we will forget what happened. What it does mean is that we don’t consider their contributions to society worthy of a place of adornment in our public squares and parks. When New Orleans made the decision to remove their Confederate monuments, their mayor made a very eloquent speech in which he said,

“The historic record is clear: the Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and P.G.T. Beauregard statues were not erected just to honor these men, but as part of the movement which became known as The Cult of the Lost Cause. This ‘cult’ had one goal — through monuments and through other means — to rewrite history to hide the truth, which is that the Confederacy was on the wrong side of humanity.”

He continued with:

“Another friend asked me to consider these four monuments from the perspective of an African American mother or father trying to explain to their fifth grade daughter who Robert E. Lee is and why he stands atop of our beautiful city. Can you do it?

Can you look into that young girl’s eyes and convince her that Robert E. Lee is there to encourage her? Do you think she will feel inspired and hopeful by that story? Do these monuments help her see a future with limitless potential? Have you ever thought that if her potential is limited, yours and mine are too?”

If you need any further evidence, why not do a Google search on those who show up to protest the removal of these monuments? Concerning the State’s Rights fantasy, go ahead and read through the secession documents of the Southern States. We think you’ll very easily identify the common theme!

We are not sure if Kirby is really ignorant or just willfully ignorant when it comes to the Civil War and what is happening today. What we do know is that we can’t afford to have someone like this in charge of our county government.

Now, just for laughs, Stephen Colbert has some good suggestions as to what we can do with all these Confederate statues:

Kirby’s Morning Covfefe: a literary analysis

The layers of this onion are as swollen and pregnant as John Donne’s flea.

What meanest thou, dim hashtag? It could be argued that this writer believes in deriding the elites of the tech world, in spite of the irony that those individuals make so many of the dollars that help keep the economy from sucking like a flea. A descendant theory holds that it is mere ambivalence to the U.S. stock market and its investors. Whatever the intent, this collection of loaded imagery calls the reader to remember the author’s relationship to the ironic tension created through his advocacy of the tech free Jefferson Tech Park.

The prevailing scholars at present concur that Delauter is implying #fakenews, and the statement “we don’t need them any longer,” must be interpreted as an insistence that the only news others should read is the propaganda disseminated via Facebook videos Trump’s minions produce, the Increasingly Nuclear Twitter War Tweets of POTUS himself, and retweets from members of his “intellectual” coterie. One notable local member is Councilman Billy Shreve. This is a device one will see frequently employed within the wing nut genre: by employing a heavily loaded allusion, such as the one to Soros, his reader is immediately aware of the team he plays for. It is critical for the writer convey that he is not on the team of reason and science and engineering and physics, dear readers. His allegiance is to #teamcovfefe, also referred to in texts as A Basket of Gullibles.

As to which interpretation is the writer’s intended one, readers may also determine that the answer is most like Sarah Palin’s news sources: all of them, Katie!

Are Facebook posts a window into a man’s soul?

1tntp6
He really might benefit from taking his social media presence down a notch or two!

How much do Facebook posts reveal about a person? It’s an interesting question. Many people seem to think they reveal plenty. Just read about how Harvard rescinded admission for 10 students who shared memes. Or take a look at this list of people who lost their jobs because of what they did on the internet.

#kirbydelauter became #kirbydelauter because he so very erroneously told a reporter she couldn’t use his name on Facebook. That whole international incident would have given most people pause. Perhaps would have made one step back and re-evaluate what one posted. Not Kirby though! You can review our list of why you shouldn’t vote him into our county’s highest office, many of which are things he did online!!

Well folks, he’s not slowing down. Into the Yokel mailbox appeared some thoughts our exalted District 5 commander has had:

Screenshot (49)Screenshot (50)

Something he would do? What is this, the Old West?  Have we descended into such madness that we need to pull weapons out at political meetings? Don’t answer that.

'Ms. Stimpson... cancel my high noon appointment.'

Then there’s this:

Screenshot (51)
That simple!!! If i can’t slosh gasoline all over the place, isn’t freedom already dead?

Thomas Jefferson’s interests have really gone down hill, wouldn’t ya say? And is Kirby advocating for anarchy?

This share really takes the cake though. Behold Soothsayer #kirbydelauter’s latest prediction:

Screenshot (53)
Did you predict Blaine’s loss as well? Or did that one blow right past ya! And keep on sharing Steve Bannon posts #! It’ll be a nice collection to have when he’s taken away in the handcuffs!

As you well know, we aren’t fans of Kirby’s style of governing. We have found very little common ground with any of his positions or the way he treats his fellow government officials.  The one time we appreciated his vote (Trout Run), he quickly took it back. However, if Facebook shares aren’t enough for you please, please read this post about the Jefferson Tech Park. Most especially the part about how the last BOCC let the developer off the hook when it came to school construction. For if everything that Shrelauter has done up to this point hasn’t been enough to convince you, them putting us on the hook for millions of dollars should be enough. It’s almost as though the last BOCC had no idea what they were doing!!

Kirby’s award winning flowchart outdone in Best of LOL category

You guys. Kirby has a T-shirt ostensibly intended to allow firefighters to show support for his campaign, and we cannot wait for you see it! It says, “Extinguish bad government/Vote Kirby Delauter” and depicts a flame throwing fire extinguisher…um…torching everything in sight. Now, we are not professional fire fighters, but we are pretty sure that isn’t how you put out fires.

Doesn’t it have a blowtorch effect? My oh my, this is too much fun. It gives that flow chart a run for its money on giggle fit potential.

It is poignant, y’all. What a master of symbolism. We had no idea of the fertile artistic mind operating behind that basic dude/common clay image. Accidental brilliance. What could better represent the unintended consequences that would result from voting for this dingdong. Way to fan the flames, man!

Another fun thing we’ve noticed is that he is taking pictures of random individuals. Individuals. Then he tags them with some category. Say Kirby bumps into Joe the Plumber at the carnival, right? And Joe, who you may have heard is a plumber, is apparently feeling kindly toward Kirby, who <<waves wand, a la peanut butter and jelly sandwiches>> becomes a movement like Plumbers for Kirby. So much for his English degree. That’s not how singular and plural work, but better luck next time.

May this campaign never end. It is such a delightful diversion from our national nightmare. However, we do notice that Women for Kirby has 117 likes, and like Hair Furor’s approval rating, that is too many. Don’t get carried away here, people.

One Trumpkin, unfathomable, with nonsense and covfefe for all (i.e. #Kirby)

Crimineeeeey. What in the Sam Hill is this?

Those are the RINOs? Wowza. Kirby’s on well water, right? I hope whatever is poisoning his kooky noggin is not affecting the rest of us. Aside: 52 Followers? Good luck with your campaign #52. And best of all a parody account from back in the “Don’t put my name in the paper without permission” days has 10 times as many. Oh, man.

Apparently Trump is the ne plus ultra. What must it be like to live in this delusional world where the kooky president did nothing to promote his own party’s bill, one time said this was easy and we’d have healthcare for all–obviously before he mused, “Who knew healthcare was so complicated?” Apply the magical thinking sauce, and he’s somehow the only one who isn’t at fault. Trump is the head of a nuttier cult than the Scientologists. Honestly, we still can’t understand how a man who says whatever pops into his brain (ineloquently) and contradicts himself from one day to the next has the respect of anyone. On the other hand, we haven’t been out there entertaining the idea that #kirbydelauter was a misunderstood genius, either.

Obviously, Kirby the wannabe is well positioned to respect someone who is successfully using every opportunity for the government to line his pockets by putting everyone up at a family owned property at the many opportunities afforded to do so by his impressive golfing breaks from his cable news diet. Cue sad trombone for the excavator who wished in vain to get county contracts, but the council said, “No no no,” like good ol Amy Winehouse.

1ayc6e

Just yesterday a poll said about a third of the Trumpin’ cohort don’t believe DJT Junior met with the Ruskies, in spite of the fact that we know because he told us he did! How are we supposed to live in a society with these fools? Let’s not see this one elected to County Executive. We’re not too proud to beg.

Kirby Delauter goes all #fakenews

We cannot take a half hour nap this week without some steaming dung getting caught up in an oscillating fan. Flagrant imbecile Kirby Delauter has hired Cameron Harris, noteworthy creator of fake news, as his spokesperson. Harris used this side gig while he was working for Del. Vogt to bring in, at one point, $1,000 an hour in ad revenue (NYT). Vogt fired him. No word on whether or not he is still living in Vogt’s basement (awkwarrrrrd). Obviously a person of such upstanding moral character was determined to be a perfect fit for the Delauter campaign!

Cameron Harris, professional derp purveyor, sucks. #KirbyDelauter sucks. Kathy Afzali also sucks. What a time to be alive.

But, wait. There’s more. The Frederick News Post has published the push poll Kirby was running to try and suggest in the “just asking questions here” way that Afzali was a liberal supporter of terrorists. Fake News Harris seems pretty proud of the manipulation. True colors and all. Afzali’s annoying as heck (remember when she anonymously texted Sheriff Jenkins to be all Mean Girls?) and has done plenty of  ridiculous stuff, but this is not a contest of the absurd. Or, wait, is it?

Get those kernels popping! Kirby and Kathy are already at each other’s throats!

2f9

Your Lady Yokels have been enthralled by the drama unfolding this evening. It all started when Frederick County Fact Check pointed us in the direction of Kathy Afzali’s post:

We are a little alarmed that we finally agree with Delegate Afzali on something! You see, Kirby did some kind of push poll that got Kathy all in a tizzy. So much so that she had to bring  Hillary Clinton into the mix! Former county commissioner and Kirby cheerleader,  Blaine Young, was not going to sit by and let Kathy rip Kirby apart like this!

img_6928

Holy Crap! Did Kathy really go to Kirby’s house and offer him a job?! It’s a little premature for that, isn’t it? We also have to note that Blaine must be some kind of elitist. How else would you explain his praise for Kirby rejecting county health insurance and a pension? For it seems as though he believes that only the wealthy should be allowed to serve in public office.

We thought it was over and then we saw this sponsored post in our feed!

The way these people throw around the word liberal!!! It’s really something! Buckle up folks we are in for a bumpy ride!

1sevk8

This momo with the hashtag is confused again.

Since Donald a l’Orange started terrifying some members of the Latino community in Houston, rapes being reported are down more than 40%. Now Occam’s razor that. Did more than 40% of the rapists get magically beamed into prison? Hell to the naw. Those women are more scared of ICE coming and separating them or their spouses from their kids than they are of a rapist, so now they don’t call the terrifying police.

Do you know what happens when a criminal isn’t apprehended because the crime isn’t reported? Do they probably wake up the next day and turn into a nice non-violent person the morning after they raped some rich lady’s undocumented nanny? Or is this a more likely scenario. The rapey person (regardless of country of origin) is maybe going to climb in your window at night and assault someone like you or your daughter (regardless of your citizenship status as well)? NB: There’s absolutely nothing saying the person victimizing these ladies isn’t the head of the household where she works, who knows full well he can get away with it like a common ladycrotch grabbing “modern day presidential” person. Very possible, even though certain people assume the bad people are the scary boogeymen from Mexico described by Trump on the campaign trail. Here is one of about seven bazillion articles explaining that immigrants are less crime prone than the population as a whole.

The reason Texas cities are fighting to keep sanctuary policies is because they help everyone. It’s a true shame Sheriff Jenkins took that damned field trip down to the border and somehow came back having learned nothing about all of this.

Police chiefs in six big Texas cities — Arlington, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio — vocally opposed the Senate bill, even as it won support from rural and suburban voters. Major Texan hubs like Dallas and Fort Worth are now torn between continuing policies they say make their cities safer and economically vibrant and enforcing the letter of the law and moving to deport anyone who may have entered the country illegally.

So police chiefs from 3 of the 10 largest cities in America are on that list of people who don’t want to see sanctuary city policies abolished. People with lots of first hand experience here. And then here is Kirby Delauter on the subject, and he is actually paying to spread this message as a Sponsored Facebook post, wherein the subtext is “I am a total simpleton and think nothing through.”

This is a serious issue. This man is seriously unable to handle anything more sophisticated than a party line talking point. Oh la la. 258 likes, though.

Local Yokel’s favorite thing about the super cool ESSL is Frederick County kids getting this lesson: if someone tells you something is true, you must ask, “What is your evidence?” If they have none, they are just talking. Isn’t that brill? Long story short. Be quiet, hashtag.
