The day has come. It is the first convening of the county council since very few believed in Shreve, not many were interested in Kirby’s straight talk, and Tony’s development ties did him in! We still have to pinch ourselves, because it doesn’t seem real that all three were knocked out in one fell swoop! There’s still five months in which they can cause trouble. And, if past behavior is an indicator of future conduct, we are in for it! The only saving grace is that since tonight is a workshop we will be spared the horror of council member comments! Here’s the agenda:
Anyhoo, without a hint of irony Kirby shows us everything that is wrong with the Republican party and a incoherent philosophy in these here times. In his first breath he claims:
“I made up my mind weeks ago that if I lost, I’d support Earl,” Delauter said. “I like that he’s laid-back, and he sees things that need to be addressed and wants to address them. I think he has Frederick County’s best interests in mind.”
Oh really? Was Earl going to drop out if Kirby won? Hmmm. Well, after stating that he would not back the chosen Republican for CE, he goes on to lament the lack of unity himself!
The party has not done a good job of presenting a unified front locally, or at the federal level, Delauter said. He pointed to President Donald Trump “doing everything he said he would do,” but still not getting full support among Republicans as an example of that.
“That’s the one thing Democrats have always done a really good job of that the Republican Party really hasn’t,” he said. “If the Democrats had someone like Trump, who came through on everything he said he’d do, they’d be totally behind them. I don’t know why Republicans haven’t.”
So right after telling us all that he will not help in unifying the local ticket, he laments the lack of unity nationally? How do ideas work again?
We came across this wonderful article about the meltdown of the Congressional Republicans that truly reflects what is wrong with the party today. Do we even have to point out the startlingly lack of awareness Kirby possesses to not understand why people would not support Trump? Of course not!
This whole debacle also reminded us of a skit on Dave Chapelle’s show years ago. Charlie Murphy, Eddie’s brother, would do a segment entitled “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories.” In one segment he described how Rick James came over to Eddie’s house and smeared mud all over his white couch. In the same sentence Rick James both denied and admitted to doing so!
I did not destroy this couch! Yes I did!
Really people. You cannot both lament and support doing the same action. That’s not how any of this works! But it is fun to watch!
We almost forgot about this dingbat, who is seemingly threatening would be donors to her county executive campaign. “I am a witch. Give me money, or I will torment you with evil conjurings!”
She really does need help.

Plus, we will forever have Billy and Kirby’s fascinating friend who shall not be named (who we are worried/thrilled to consider, based upon rubbernecking over his not subtle enough Facebook musings, that he may be considering a don’t-call-it a-comeback return to public life with the launch of a sexxxpert advise [sic] podcast in honor of Human Trafficking Workshop Weeknext week). Added bonus. Also running for CE, we have Regina “The Bullshit Stops Here” Williams. We would tell you more, but her website reveals no official positions on anything. Gracious. Afzali has issues. Kirby has issues. We know you have issues, too. Yousued the county.
It’s rather sad to note that Afzali seems like the most serious contender here, having at least had the forethought to think about the issues, and she really is a hot mess. Remember the time she had a spat with the sheriff, and was texting him that he was a wimp and a phony?
Go ahead, madam. Align yourself with the wicked witch. It’s a perfect accompaniment to your Pay No Attention to that Man Behind the Curtain president. This clownshow is a plague.

After last week’s complete turn about from Bud Otis, we don’t see much hope of things going well for the rest of the year. This week’s agenda sees the removal of two public hearings that were not given their time in the sun, and one for a very bad bill about MDX. It’s as though we’ve time warped back to the Young BOCC in the span of a week! We don’t have the spirit to go through the entire agenda this week, but we will call your attention to this item on the agenda (note: we are not the ones that highlighted it in yellow.):
M.C. is currently the council’s representative on Maryland Association of Counties Legislative Committee, but expect to see that change this evening. Also, we’ll see what Forest Resource Ordinance Bill gets through. Expect it to be the one more favorable to developer interests, for that is where we are now.
So, be safe, but drink whatever you need to do calm your nerves this evening.
