Let’s Armchair Quarterback the primary election results!

Guilty as charged!

We’ve been waiting for the second batch of mail in ballots to arrive before we put our 2 cents in, so forgive our late reply! If you want to peruse the elections results, click here. But who wants to look at boring numbers when you have our very fine analysis?!

President

Of course both Biden and Trump won, but it tickled the Yokel bone to see that over 3,600 of our local folks voted for Nikki Haley, who dropped out over 2 months ago! We shall see what that means for the law-breaking orange menace when November arrives!

Time to peel away people!

U.S. Senate

Angela Alsobrooks, the County Executive from Prince Georges County, and former Governor Larry Hogan will run off for the open Senate seat. In our county over 4,000 of those votes went to Robin Ficker, which we can imagine are from the people who still refer to Hogan as “Lockdown Larry”. However, no matter what you think of Hogan (you can read here about who recruited him to run), everyone needs to remember that we cannot risk a Republican controlled Senate. Let’s say Trump wins another term and Hogan tips that balance over to the Republicans, can you imagine the laws that we will be subjected to? Don’t count on this guy to protect women’s reproductive rights either. Remember this?

It’s time to gather around Alsobrooks to make sure that Maryland remains a sane voice in the nation’s capitol.

6th District Representative

First off we need to all laugh about Dan Cox’s loss.

Hopefully he’s going to give it up now!

But then we need to gather ourselves together because Neil Parrot is no freaking walk in the park either. Here’s Exhibit A:

We need to make sure that April Delaney makes the cut this November in order to push that balance back onto the Democratic side. The Republicans have proved time and again these past two years that they cannot handle the responsibility of governing in the House.

School Board Election:

UPDATE: Apple ballot is now in the top 3 spots with Veronica Lowe pulling up to 6th place:

Now it’s time for the results of the election we like to talk about the most. Here’s a handy little chart we made for y’all:

Not so fast Beaker!

Do we like that the bigoted, book banner, Moms for Liberty candidate won the most votes in the primary election? Of course not. But this scenario works because in the General Election you choose three. Plus, many independent voters did not come out for the primary so these results don’t include those folks! We’ll have many posts about how Brennan, McLoughlin, and Black would be a nightmare for our board, but that is another post for another day. Just be sure that you tell all of your friends to vote for Bokee, Monier and Wilson! BMW for short!

We cannot risk our school board to fanatics!

We don’t need any more fresh hells! A Yokel primer concerning the consequences of elections!

Ever since the birth of this website in 2015, we’ve tried to sound the alarm about the consequences of elections. They have countless unforeseen effects that many folks don’t consider when choosing a candidate. We’ve decided to illustrate this concept through a nice flowchart that hopefully makes it easy to see the connections between elections and their aftermath:

WHOOPS! We forgot that sometimes flowcharts don’t always make sense, especially when you set #kirbydelauter loose with some construction papers and markers! Here’s the right one:

Hopefully this illustrates our point nicely!

We’ve got to be more careful with our government and institutions. Real people are being hurt in our country all because a snake oil (or hideous sneaker) salesman convinced enough people that he actually gave a shit about them. (Spoiler alert: he most certainly does not.) At the Constitutional Convention way back in 1787, folks waited anxiously to find out what type of government would replace the too weak Articles of Confederation. When it was all hashed out a woman approached Ben Franklin to enquire of what path the new country would take. His reply:

The “if you can keep it” part should give us all pause…

In case you’ve isolated yourself with a Netflix subscription and a delivery from Naked Wines (No Judgement!), we need to pull you back into reality. Women’s health is in danger. Women’s self-determination is in danger. Women’s ability to decide when, if, and now how to have a child is in danger. And for those of you who don’t think that’s a big deal, try to imagine if you were stripped of all bodily autonomy. Try to imagine that the one thing that you wanted more than anything else in the world was now blocked from you because people could not be bothered to figure out simple cause and effect relationships work. It isn’t funny or wise to tell over half the country’s population that they can’t make their own major life choices. There is nothing in the Bible or any other ancient religious text that discusses when life begins. The folks who wrote these books had no idea what a sperm, egg, or embryo even was! You would also be hard pressed to find a scientist that says that life begins at conception. It’s all made up!

At the Yokel, we’ve tried to maintain a focus on the local. And of course we still will. However, all politics is local. When the nation declares a war, our local men and women go off to fight. When our nation fails to support our allies against evil we endanger not only ourselves, but the entire world. To illustrate the cause/effect relationship once more, when we don’t take dictators seriously because we want to score political points, we also make self aggrandizing, pompous pieces of shit think it’s okay to normalize dictators and war criminals.

This is really worrisome (and also extremely stupid) because there is a certain segment of the population that will buy into this crap. And they vote!

When women’s personal health choices are taken out of their hands it shows that the government only views us as incubators… at best! It also very stupidly prevents what these ideologues claim to want–people having children. Just look at this poor dear, the “esteemed” Senator from Alabama, struggle to backtrack on the Alabama decision when he finally realizes that IVF treatments actually cause children to be born:

Just stunning…

If you have a friend in Alabama, maybe pass this post along to them, since these rulings seem to have a trickle down effect. Every election, be it at the federal, state, or local level has consequences. Let’s creep back into the local scene and envision a hypothetical situation that could happen here in Frederick County. We’ll stick with a flowchart since we are in a visual aid kind of mood this evening:

What if college doesn’t fix their worldview because they go to a Florida State university and we are stuck with even more generations of this nightmare???

If we’ve learned anything over these last nine years, it’s that you cannot be careless with your vote. You need to pay attention. It matters. We matter. The world, our country, and our county all depend upon the way we vote. Thinking of all the possible consequences is exhausting, but that doesn’t excuse us from doing so.

What does Billy think is the “absolute right thing to do”? BEHOLD:

the-most-interesting-man-in-the-world-i-dont-always-dig-myself-into-a-hole-but-when-i-do-its-a-big-d
The YUGHEST!
Surely you heard the infuriating news that the Orange Menace banned transgendered people from serving in the military. He cited monetary concerns and distraction as reasons to ban people who are brave enough to sign up to serve our country. Something, both he and his relatives avoided at all costs. We won’t address the distraction part of his reasoning, because GROW UP, however, the monetary reasoning doesn’t seem to pan out either.

What does this have to do with Sheep Shreve, well look:

ABSOLUTELY THE RIGHT THING TO DO! ABSOLUTELY! Oh please Billy please talk to Nancy so your opinion can be out for all to see! And how does he suppose this makes us all great again? Oh that’s right, we keep forgetting that MAGA is code for some rose colored discriminatory 1950’s utopia that these fools believe once existed.  The only thing that made us chuckle just a little yesterday was this analysis of the situation:

Seriously!!
Billy had another Orange Menace re-tweet yesterday that we find perplexing:

What is that even suppose to mean? Are Billy and Trump hoping to establish some kind of theocracy?  We’ll let Mr. Whiskers take it from here:

UH-OH!

How many things can Shrelauter get wrong in a week? Is there a word bigger than infinity?

3bd9be39a8d23210a6b07e82c89d865e
This is a recurring question, isn’t it?

When one scrolls through Facebook, it is to see what one’s friends and family members are up to. One might catch a cute cat pic, catch up on the crazy land that is today’s world, or stalk an ex. However, it offends one’s senses to see one of Kirby’s sponsored posts in thine feed!

Alright you dolt, let’s talk about this situation, shall we? Despite Trump’s proclamations that millions, that’s right millions, of people voted illegally in the last Presidential election, there is NO proof that such a thing ever occurred. Take a moment to read through, and click the links, on this very informative article written by The Brennan Center for Justice.  This whole voter fraud claim doesn’t hold any water.

We would like to see Kirby’s evidence that there are non-citizens on Frederick County voter rolls! Can he back that claim up? Or does he just expect everyone to believe him like his hero Trump does? To us, Brian Frosh is a hero, as are the other over 40 attorney generals nation-wide who are refusing to comply with this request.  Despite what the Trumpettes may tell you, the administration asked for much more that what is on the public record. For if that were the case, why would they even have to ask? The information is already out there! If you haven’t seen AG Frosh’s response, it really is a work of art:

“As Attorney General, I take seriously my responsibility to protect the voting rights and privacy interests of Maryland citizens. I find this request for the personal information of millions of Marylanders repugnant; it appears designed only to intimidate voters and to indulge President Trump’s fantasy that he won the popular vote. Repeating incessantly a false story of expansive voter fraud, and then creating a commission to fuel that narrative, does not make it any more true. There is no evidence that the integrity of the 2016 election in Maryland – or any other state- was compromised by voter fraud. I urge Governor Hogan and the State Board of Elections to speak out against this effort and to reject any further attempt to intimidate voters and obtain their personal information.
I will continue to take all necessary steps to protect the private personal information of Maryland voters and the integrity of Maryland’s voting process.”

Here we were thinking that our Federal institutions would be the ones that would most effectively weather this storm. But, maybe, just maybe, it’s our State institutions that will best protect our rights.

Since we are such gluttons for punishment, we clicked on over to Kirby’s candidate Facebook page and were met with some other “interesting posts”:

Wait a minute…he really doesn’t know that he and Billy are the part of the swamp that needs to be drained? Oh dear.

AND…

img_6842 (2).png
The path we fear is the one our county would take under a Kirby Delauter administration.

We can’t leave the first half of Shrelauter out of this post, as much as we know you would like us to, for he’s also being a dummy on social media:

img_6845

Now, we know that Billy is very upset over Friend of the Yokel Stan Mordensky being appointed to said board.  But, as we all know by now, this board was mandated by the State of Maryland! Not by Jan! And who should know that more than an elected official from Frederick County!? So tired of this willful ignorance these two play to try and get their flimsy agenda across! Keep diligent, folks, the wordsmithing from these two is very likely to get much, much worse over the next few months.
