What is this we hear about Roger Wilson?

In a recent Frederick News Post article your Lady Yokels were horrified to see this news:

Roger Wilson and Katie Nash have topped the fundraising numbers in the first round of campaign finance reports in the Frederick city race for mayor and alderman.

Wilson led the mayoral candidates with $15,815 raised through the first deadline of Aug. 12,…..

We know Sparky, it’s appalling.

There was a time that we supported Roger Wilson. We agreed with his politics and thought we was a fine and dandy sort of fella. Then came some news:

The four-page report disclosed Tuesday night by the city of Frederick was based in part on interviews with eight women who described interactions with Wilson. It found “sufficient evidence to conclude that Alderman Wilson relied on his position as an Alderman to gain the acquaintance and trust of women in the community” and that Wilson “then used a pretense of helping these women as an opportunity to request that they engage in sexual relationships with him.”

However, the investigation, conducted by Baltimore-based lawyer Karen Kruger, concluded that “Mr. Wilson’s conduct does not constitute legally actionable sexual harassment under State or federal law.

“Sufficient evidence to conclude that Alderman Wilson relied on his position as an Alderman to gain the acquaintance and trust of women in the community”! With those words any support from us flew out the window. It didn’t help that on his Alderman Facebook page he decided to ignore the first paragraph and went with the second as a very weak example of vindication.

At long last, we have the conclusion of the four-month, City-sponsored independent investigation. The report states: “Alderman Wilson’s conduct during his term as an elected official of the City did not constitute legally actionable sexual harassment under State or Federal law.” The recommendations? “No formal action is requested.” I am not surprised by this conclusion. This was the expected outcome. However, despite this vindication, the damage to me and my family remains. Even after this costly investigation, the report contains no actual details of what I allegedly did, or the identity of any accusers. There is nothing included but more vague allegations against my character originating from the MacShane family. However, despite that, the report’s conclusions of my innocence are what ultimately matter.

We know there’s a lot going on in the world these days, but we beg you City of Frederick residents, consider another candidate. There are three others! Check out this page for more details. We have it on very good authority that Blaine Young has a Roger Wilson sign in his front yard. That’s all some of us need to know.
